On May 30, Swarovski, known for its exquisite crystal jewelry, submitted trademark applications for NFTs, the metaverse, and web3 technologies, as reported by trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis.

According to Kondoudis’ tweet In its ambitious plans, the brand is looking to launch VR glasses and provide downloadable digital assets secured with NFTs. This collection could encompass audio and video from fashion shows, clips, memes, and even virtual renderings of precious stones and jewelry, apparel, footwear, handbags, decorative stationery, and writing tools.
This strategic move into the web3 space aligns with Swarovski’s broader rebranding strategies. Since appointing Giovanna Engelbert as its inaugural creative director in 2021, the company has seen a significant shift in consumer perception. Once viewed as out of touch, Swarovski has reinvigorated its image by releasing numerous jewelry items that have become must-haves for many fashion enthusiasts over the past couple of years.
