Logan Paul officially announces a $5 million Pikachu NFT.

Last week, Logan Paul In his recent update, Paul recounted the captivating tale surrounding his prized collectible. Back in April, he transformed from an internet sensation into a crypto enthusiast, and soon after, he acquired the legendary Pokémon card – a pristine Illustrator Pikachu. This rare gem is one of just 39 issued in the late 1990s as rewards for manga drawing competition winners.

In a cinematic YouTube video On July 7, Paul revealed that he is converting this card into an NFT, NFT and allowing the community to invest in it through Liquid Marketplace , the platform he co-founded to enable fractional ownership of rare collectibles. Earlier in April, Paul had also announced the project, successfully raising $8 million in initial funding.

Regardless of the number of cards still out there, Paul’s Pikachu holds the distinction of being the only one certified mint condition by PSA, the organization responsible for setting grading standards. Paul showcased the card during his memorable appearance at WrestleMania, and subsequently signed with WWE.

In his latest YouTube video discussing the Pikachu saga, Paul reflected on how he first learned about this coveted card. For quite some time, it had been a dream of his. Just when he had nearly given up hope, he received a surprise message from an associate who had heard credible news about the card’s owner wanting to sell it.

Following nail-biting phone calls After quite a bit of negotiation, they struck a deal – a staggering $5 million plus a rated-9 version of the same card. Paul's video features snippets from this negotiation.

The YouTube influencer frequently faces criticism for his antics, and rightly so. Time and again, he has epitomized the stereotype of a privileged American male—a caricature of the NFT community currently. He has made light of suicide victims in a Japanese forest and ridiculed a wrestling opponent by alluding to abortion.

Nevertheless, Paul demonstrates enough awareness to express regret, which gives hope for potential growth and transformation. His narrative also includes intriguing aspects, like his time in a creator commune with fellow Viner friends, where he explored his passion for Hollywood and Vine.

Kotaku While a number of people may dismiss Paul’s genuine enthusiasm for Pikachu, his YouTube content clearly shows he knows what he’s talking about. Although Paul has acknowledged that he has exaggerated certain moments, like the first time he showcased glasses that corrected his color blindness, he still managed to convey a sense of wonder when finally holding the card.

"What I once believed to be merely a legend is now right in front of me,\" Paul marveled. A soft piano tune played in the background. Who wouldn’t long for such a moment?

I guessed my initial Logan Paul video might bring tears to my eyes.

As the piano melody continued, the scene transitioned into a montage of Paul displaying the card around his neck and later dominating in the WWE ring. Bleacher Report Recently, some have speculated that Paul, with his multifaceted talents, could inject vitality back into WWE.

The video came to a heartwarming conclusion—with an official from the Guinness Book of World Records congratulating Paul, still sweating from his wrestling match, for accomplishing the highest private sale of a Pokémon trading card in history. 'You’re officially amazing,' he remarked.

"This is the most incredible thing ever,\" Paul replied, \"but what makes it even more exciting is that you, yes, you watching from home, can own this card together with me.\" After experiencing the highs, Paul has made the majority stake in the card available as an NFT on Liquid Marketplace, retaining a 49% share for himself while inviting the public to fight for ownership of the remainder.

Liquid Marketplace introduces an intriguing concept of co-owned collectibles, though many remain skeptical about Paul’s sincerity. known crypto scammer After all, one can’t completely fault Paul without acknowledging the culture that crafted him— one that celebrates extravagant displays of wealth, rewards virality with fame for brief clips, and offers multi-million-dollar deals for sensationalism.
