In a groundbreaking move, Web2 pioneers are setting up The Metaverse Standards Forum.

Tech giants established “ The Metaverse Standards Forum ” to develop an inclusive and open Metaverse .

The focus of this organization will be on practical projects and open-source tools that will facilitate the broader implementation of Metaverse standards. It will also aim to create unified terminology and deployment guidelines.

Over 30 companies have contributed to the formation of The Metaverse Standards Forum, which includes a diverse array of participants. Meta , Microsoft , Epic Games , Unity, Sony , Adobe , Huawei, NVIDIA , and Qualcomm. The Sandbox , Decentraland , and Roblox Notably absent from the founding group are tech giants like Apple and Google. working on their AR/VR headsets , are not present either. 

The forum's initiatives will cater to the interests and needs of its members, potentially delving into areas such as 3D interactive assets, user-generated content, avatars, as well as privacy and identity management, alongside financial transactions.

As highlighted on the forum's homepage, numerous industry leaders believe that realizing the metaverse's full potential hinges on establishing open standards.

This organization will offer a collaborative platform open to all companies, industry groups, or academic institutions at no cost.

The inaugural meeting of The Metaverse Standards Forum is expected to take place in July of this year.
