Circle May 26th on your calendars for the debut of Varvara Alay's first NFT series on the Snowcrash platform.

Renowned creator, designer, and illustrator Varvara Alay this week revealed details about her newest collaborative NFT series, “ Birds of Sōlis ,” will officially drop next week on Snowcrash a new curated exchange platform operating on the Solana blockchain.
The full launch will go live on Snowcrash the following Thursday, May 26th, at 10 AM PST; however, Allow List members can access the pre-sale starting on May 25th. Alay’s collection consists of 2,022 generative artworks – comprising 2,000 standard still images, 2 unique ultra-rare stills, and 20 animated video NFTs. A fraction of the sales proceeds will be donated to Nia Tero an organization dedicated to promoting Indigenous stewardship of essential ecosystems.
Before diving into Web3, Alay had an impressive 15-plus-year career in art. Her background includes illustrating for children's literature, designing board games, creating fashion pieces, and holding the position of Art Director at L’Officiel and Robb Report. She has also graced the pages of Harper’s Bazaar and Esquire.
Fans of Web3 art are likely familiar with Alay from her past works on Foundation and SuperRare , along with her zeitgeist Flower Girls a series encompassing 10,000 botanical goddesses represented as ERC-721 tokens on the Ethereum blockchain, which launched in December 2021 on OpenSea and sold out within half an hour. Notable figures such as Eva Longoria and Reese Witherspoon are among the proud owners of Flower Girls. Overall sales the total sales volume for Flower Girls exceeded $16 million, with Alay generously donating 20% of profits to children's charities and an additional 5% aimed at nurturing the next generation of artists by acquiring children’s NFT artwork.
The artist's biography depicts her as someone who was 'born into art,' raised between Russia and Ukraine by a mother engaged in illustration and a grandmother renowned for her painting. Alay's artwork is characterized by surrealism, vibrant colors, and sometimes abstract shapes, crafting 'elaborate paracosms of her dreams' while focusing on earthly elements. In her narratives, animals and plants serve as vital storytelling components, underscoring the importance of nature.

Consequently, 'Birds of Sōlis' provides fresh visual sensations aligned with Alay’s purpose-driven approach. The entire collection revolves around 20 bird species featured in 'Birds of America,' a landmark study released in 1827 by the National Audubon Society. Alay expresses her lifelong fascination with birds, citing them as her muses, and declares, 'Birds of Sōlis' is a homage to reinterpreting the Audubon birds, showcasing the endless creative potential afforded by NFTs.
The website for the collection states, 'John J. Audubon’s engravings represent one of the earliest thorough explorations of North American birds.' Importantly, many individuals—especially Black and Indigenous communities—played significant roles in making this project possible. To honor this legacy, the artist and the platform are committed to donating 15% of primary sales and 10% of secondary sales to Nia Tero, supporting modern conservation initiatives and acknowledging the contributions of Indigenous and Black communities to 'Birds of America.'
The launch will feature a 'Flight Plan' or roadmap, which draws a parallel to Bancor’s and emphasizes daylight, with the launch day dubbed 'Dawn.' Donations are set to be executed during the 'Sunrise' phase, shortly after 'Birds of Sōlis' takes to the skies. Here, possibilities to mint the 20 video NFTs will be unveiled through raffles among holders of still images, with each video animating one of the birds that inspired the series. Following this, all holders will participate in weekly raffles for a chance to win a unique animated version of their favorite Bird of Sōlis NFT. In the concluding 'Sunset' phase, the top 20 holders with the most diverse collection will receive custom one-of-a-kind stills and animations of their Birds in distinctive settings.
