The University of Tokyo is preparing to unveil a curriculum that revolves around the Metaverse.

As reported by local outlets, the University of Tokyo's Todai will be initiating Metaverse courses in the next academic cycle. The Asahi Shimbun This initiative seeks to enhance understanding of the rapid digital transformation happening today.
The courses will emphasize cutting-edge technologies and will cater not only to high school students but also to adult learners eager to broaden their expertise. High school participants will have the chance to explore both in-person and online engineering offerings from the University of Tokyo.
Individuals who are already in the workforce will also have the option to enroll in supplementary classes covering subjects such as artificial intelligence, innovative communication technologies, and entrepreneurial skills. Sessions are expected to occur in a virtual setting and will be overseen by the engineering faculty of Todai.
"The Metaverse presents an incredible opportunity for anyone—regardless of age, gender, economic background, or location—to gain insights into engineering and information sciences,\" noted officials from the university.
Todai emphasized that these programs will be inclusive, aiming to engage both male and female students and addressing the underrepresentation of women in engineering fields.
