TIME magazine embarks on a journey into the Metaverse by establishing 'Time Square' inside The Sandbox.

New York-based TIME magazine has been active in the NFT TIME is now making its entry into the Metaverse through a new partnership aimed at expanding its reach. In The Sandbox, TIME has secured a parcel of land to establish a digital hub for art and commerce, aptly named TIME Square, inspired by the famed neighborhood in New York City.
Launched in September 2021, TIMEPieces aims to bring the magazine's legacy into the Web3 arena, cultivate a community, and offer unique experiences. The entry into the Metaverse will create avenues for immersive engagements and grant TIMEPieces holders access to exclusive discussions, screenings by TIME Studios, events, and educational resources. Furthermore, the community will have a say in shaping the creation of TIME Square.
Sebastien Borget, co-founder of The Sandbox, describes it as a vibrant digital Manhattan, rich in culture, entertainment, and brand experiences, where individuals can explore, connect, work, and discover exciting opportunities. By teaming up with TIME, they’re positioning TIMEPieces as the heartbeat of this creative digital space, where virtual architects will be invited to collaborate on the design of TIME Square—a hub for both brands and creative minds in their metaverse. said TIMEPieces currently showcases multiple NFT collections on OpenSea, including Genesis, Robotos, and Long Neckie Women of the Year. The publication also features artworks from its community and offers minting passes for upcoming releases. In March, TIME became the first magazine to issue an NFT edition, spotlighting Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin, and the magazine has started accepting cryptocurrency payments for subscriptions.
