The Sandbox's Alpha Season 3 has officially begun and introduces a variety of fresh features tailored for the metaverse

Pioneer metaverse platform The Sandbox ‘s newest event, Alpha Season 3, has just started This multi-week play-to-earn event had its premiere on August 24.
This marks the third iteration of the event, which promises a wealth of new features and experiences designed for fans worldwide. The Alpha Season events allow players to dive into The Sandbox’s latest virtual realms.
Here are the latest updates and features introduced in Season 3:
Better playable experiences
The upcoming season will showcase over 90 playable metaverses that will roll out over a period of ten weeks. Players can enjoy both single-player and multiplayer experiences. Out of the 90 metaverses, 27 will feature collaborations with renowned brands, including Snoop Dogg, The Walking Dead, Bored Ape Yacht Club, and World of Women, among others.
Playable avatars from NFTs
Gamers possessing NFTs from 13 popular collections will have the opportunity to use their unique digital items as avatars while playing. Notable collections include Bored Ape Yacht Club, Moonbirds, World of Women, Cool Cats, Clone X, and People of Crypto, just to name a few.
Prizes
The Sandbox team has unveiled new incentives for players who hold The Sandbox NFTs. Among the rewards are SAND tokens, which are the platform’s native cryptocurrency. Additionally, LAND owners and avatar holders will earn SAND tokens by completing levels in the game.
Leaderboard rewards
Players who rank highest on the leaderboard will be rewarded with SAND tokens, with a total of 1.5 million SAND tokens set aside for distribution. Rankings will be determined based on Ethos Points earned through quest completions.
Addition of KYC
This Season will also implement a KYC (Know Your Customer) system. This measure is intended to deter fraudulent activities like multi-accounting, ensuring a fair and secure gaming atmosphere within the metaverse.
As The Sandbox continues its development journey, the Alpha Season event draws in a fresh wave of users to the expansive open metaverse. Developers can also utilize this opportunity to identify and resolve any bugs or issues that may arise within the ecosystem.
