The heirs of Thelonious Monk are preparing to introduce an NFT collection to the digital marketplace.
The team working with Thelonious Monk has confirmed the release of their NFT collection, which is being launched with the estate's approval.
Monk, who passed away in 1982, is widely celebrated as one of the all-time great jazz musicians. Known primarily for his piano skills, his innovative compositions and improvisations have left an indelible mark on jazz history. In fact, Monk ranks as the second most recorded jazz composer, just behind Duke Ellington.
The purpose of this NFT collection is to honor the legacy of Thelonious Monk, ensuring that his artistic contributions are preserved on the blockchain forever. Thanks to his son, T.S. Monk, fans now have the chance to engage with music history by acquiring an NFT.
The music of Thelonious Monk will be complemented by art created by the GIF artist Javier Arrés. He plans to interpret Monk’s music visually through a new take on the cover of the ‘Underground’ album. This collection is being launched with collaborative support. MakersPlace , an NFT marketplace.
The collection features two distinct types of NFTs. The first variety consists of one-of-a-kind audio-visual works, known as 'Theloniopolis.' The second type offers a more accessible version of audio-visual pieces, referred to as 'Metro Monk.'
