Tencent Tencent, the leading force in China's technology and internet sector, is set to launch its newest AI chatbot this Thursday, thanks to recent regulatory endorsements.
The highly anticipated chatbot, 'HunyuanAide,' teased in a social media announcement by Tencent, promises to showcase its capabilities, particularly in helping users craft promotional materials. The company stated that it has been meticulously perfecting its AI framework, 'Hunyuan,' over the past several months.
The initiative began in February, when Tencent formed a specialized team with the objective of developing its own ChatGPT-like chatbot, eventually called 'HunyuanAide.' During this time, the company has broadened the internal testing phase for this pioneering technology.
The New Chatbot Rival on the Block
It's essential to recognize the importance of parameters in large language models (LLMs); a greater number of parameters allows these models to capture more complex data, leading to significant improvements in their overall functionality and performance.
Tencent's strategic launch closely follows the recent approval from the Chinese government for AI chatbots to be made available to the public. Other notable Chinese tech companies, like Baidu Inc. and SenseTime Group, introduced their own chatbot solutions just last week.
Baidu's CEO, Robin Li, remarked recently that over 70 AI models have been developed in China, featuring language models equipped with an impressive one billion parameters, categorizing them as large language models.
Despite these advancements in AI, Tencent's stock experienced a minor setback, falling by 1% on Wednesday, slightly exceeding the wider market's decline of 0.5%.
