Upgraded Sui Mainnet to Version 1.10.1 with Improved zkLogin Authentication

In Brief

The Sui mainnet and protocol have transitioned to versions 1.10.1 and 25, respectively, now featuring a new verification key specifically for zkLogin transactions, implementing the JWK consensus, and adding flags for zkLogin across three OAuth providers, alongside warnings for any unused constants.

In this recent release, the Sui mainnet has moved up to version V1.10.1 , with a simultaneous upgrade of the Sui protocol version 25, with a strong emphasis on upgrading the zkLogin verification capabilities.

One of the standout aspects of this upgrade is the introduction of a verification key created during a special ceremony. This key plays an essential role in confirming the proof in zkLogin transactions, which significantly boosts both security and efficiency.

Release note #13695 introduces a new feature that enables users to convert specific error messages, making it easier to identify what went wrong. This improvement enhances clarity and assists in resolving errors efficiently.

New Leader Election Schedule

As part of enhancing fault tolerance, issue #13699 introduces a new_leader_election_schedule flag. This initiative is set to facilitate the implementation of a new reputation-based leader election algorithm, which will elevate the stability and dependability of the Sui Mainnet.

Other significant improvements include an updated default output for a particular Sui client command (#13675). There’s also initial public support for Move 2024.alpha. This update optimizes function definitions throughout entire packages, though it limits external calls.

SUI Previous Updates

Previously, in version 1.8.1, Sui Mainnet incorporated a feature flag for zkLogin protocol configuration to assist in the testing of developmental networks alongside upgraded zkLogin signature validation and better error reporting systems.

Attention to error resolution is a major leap forward. The renewed focus on refined verification processes is imperative. These latest upgrades underscore Sui Mainnet's commitment to enhancing user experience, security, and overall functionality.
