Story Protocol is an open and decentralized infrastructure designed to function as a global repository for IP, enabling creators to verify ownership of their assets. The company has publicly stated its mission to establish a revolutionary IP protocol, specifically crafted for the digital age, aiming to democratize the creation of IP through a globally accessible and flexible repository.
The platform boasts features like transparent provenance tracking, hassle-free licensing, and fair revenue share. According to the company, applications built on Story Protocol are designed to cater to creators across a wide variety of media forms, including text, imagery, video games, and audio.
"We are crafting the 'Git for IP'. Just like Git transformed isolated code repositories into a universal and interconnected open-source platform, our global IP repository establishes a transparent and interoperable layer for intellectual property,” said Seung Yoon (S.Y.) Lee, Co-founder of Story Protocol, in an interview with Metaverse Post. “Our modules atop this global repository facilitate permissionless licensing functionalities.\"

Moreover, Story Protocol is focused on building a vibrant ecosystem for third-party developers, who are set to provide a variety of services, spanning crowdfunding, capital formation, IP discovery, AI content verification, and community development.
The initiative aspires to bring together a diverse range of developers who can offer services covering the entire IP development cycle for creators across all mediums. This includes areas such as crowdfunding, capital formation, IP discovery, licensing, AI content authentication, and the growth of community involvement.
"The open and decentralized nature of our protocol gives us a significant edge because it mitigates the platform risk for those building within our ecosystem,” remarked Seung Yoon. “Nobody wants to invest extensive effort and resources only to face the risk of being shut out from the platform they helped cultivate.\"
This fundraising round marks David S. Goyer's formal entry as an advisor to Story Protocol, renowned for his contributions to the iconic franchises 'Blade' and 'The Dark Knight.'
"In the coming years, we plan to collaborate with design partners across mainstream media and web3, onboard developers, initiate grant programs, and actively seek out new startups, as well as sign additional intellectual properties,\" added Seung Yoon.
