In December 2022, the two artists joined forces to create the 'Punx' duo, specializing in electronic music infused with the essence of NFTs. Both Aoki and Blau are well-versed in the Web3 landscape: Justin previously performed in the virtual realm of Decentraland's Metaverse Music Festival, while Aoki has made multiple contributions to NFT projects and owns property within The Sandbox. Punx 'Concentrate' marks the first official release from this innovative duo. The track draws inspiration from the CyberPunks, the acclaimed NFT collection created by Larva Labs back in 2017. Both Aoki and 3LAU are proud owners of CryptoPunks NFTs, often drawing from these artworks for creative input; hence, the three-minute piece resonates with themes of technology and cyberculture, echoing the upbeat rhythms you'd find at a modern techno festival.
The single will be available on the web3 rights platform Royal, co-founded by Justin Blau. This NFT marketplace empowers collectors and music lovers to back their favorite artists by purchasing non-fungible tokens, while NFT holders can earn a share of music rights and royalties from streaming.
Starting Friday, April 28, 'Concentrate' will be open for minting to 99 lucky collectors selected from CryptoPunks NFT fans, holders of Aoki’s Aok1verse Passport, and supporters of Blau’s NFT collection. These fortunate NFT holders will collectively own 50% of the music rights, equating to 0.5% ownership of the track each.
