Starknet has made an exciting announcement with the launch of version 0.13.4 on the Testnet, while the eagerly awaited rollout to the Mainnet is targeted for March 17th.
In Brief
The team behind Starknet shared that the new v0.13.4 is now active on the Testnet, and they are gearing up for a Mainnet deployment expected around March 17th.

Ethereum Layer 2 network, Starknet Starknet has confirmed that version 0.13.4 is now available on the Testnet, with plans for it to go live on the Mainnet by March 17th.
As part of the upcoming Mainnet launch, support for older RPC versions prior to v0.7 will cease. Therefore, Starknet full nodes will strictly be compatible with RPC v0.7 and newer. All users and developers are urged to update their versions to ensure seamless functionality.
On top of that, Starknet v0.13.4 will introduce RPC v0.8, with full node client teams currently working to implement its standards. Users are encouraged to upgrade to RPC v0.8 to leverage new features such as storage proofs and Layer 2 gas introduction. However, please note that RPC v0.8 will not support outdated transaction versions 0, 1, and 2, so teams relying on receipts or traces must adapt as necessary.
In addition, after extensive collaboration with the community, there’s a significant update in progress for the Starknet Wallet and DApp API, alongside a refreshed version of starknet-js. This revamp separates the functionalities of wallets, decentralization applications (dApps), and starknet-js versions, thus fostering more agile and adaptable development processes. The transition will be user-friendly as developers can now implement the new WalletAccount method, moving away from the older method of creating an Account object through the wallet, and starknet-js will facilitate this migration automatically. Since only RPC versions 0.7 and later will be supported, it’s crucial to utilize starknet-js version 6.9.0 or above to stay in sync with the latest developments.
What Is Starknet v0.13.4?
Starknet This system leverages a zero-knowledge rollup scaling solution to boost efficiency while ensuring top-notch security. It processes transactions off-chain, consolidating them into a STARK proof before uploading them to the Ethereum network, leading to a remarkable improvement in scalability for decentralized applications.
The release of Starknet v0.13.4 signifies a significant enhancement aimed at accelerating speed, decreasing costs, and refining the entire developer journey. With this version now operational on the Testnet, key features focused on optimizing network performance are rolled out. Cairo-Native smart contracts enhance operational efficiency, Layer 2 gas pricing allows for more accurate fee estimations, and stateful compression helps minimize storage expenses.
Moreover, a range of enhancements targeting developer experience have been rolled out to make building on Starknet a breeze. Collectively, these changes aim to create a more user-friendly and cost-effective environment for both developers and users.
According to Starknet’s roadmap Looking ahead, another update is on the horizon with the launch of v0.14.0 later this year. This forthcoming version is anticipated to introduce a distributed sequencer, potential Stwo integration, and further advancements like two-second block times, a mempool, and a fee market—these improvements promise to enhance the experience for both users and developers alike.
