Square Enix Teams Up with Polygon to Debut Interactive Web3 Artistic Venture, Symbiogenesis

The Japanese video game giant Square Enix has officially partnered with Polygon to introduce a novel interactive digital collectible art experience dubbed Symbiogenesis.

Square Enix announced The concept for Symbiogenesis was initially hinted at back in November 2022; however, specific details surrounding the game—including its premise, features, and blockchain affiliations—remained undisclosed until this announcement. The news follows Square Enix's declaration during the 2022 Shareholders’ Meeting Report, where they expressed their goal to develop storytelling-focused NFTs.

Symbiogenesis pledges to deliver an unparalleled encounter revolving around digital collectible art, intricately linked with a dynamic narrative unfolding within a designed universe. The storyline evolves in tandem with every tactical decision made by players.

As per the press release, varying narratives emerge on a mysterious floating isle within Symbiogenesis, driven by insights from players who possess digital collectible art that embodies distinct characters. By engaging in diverse quests, players can reveal concealed treasures and acquire or trade digital collectibles, thus unlocking multiple captivating tales about this enigmatic realm and its denizens.

Moreover, the game enables players to recreate and offload digital artistry for their avatars. They can exchange their distinct storylines with others and collaborate as a community to achieve shared objectives.

The game incorporates a choose-your-own-adventure element, providing players with various possible endings. However, just three players who fulfill particular criteria will be selected to take part in the concluding 'World Mission.' These chosen few will determine the narrative's conclusion and the destiny of the crafted universe.

Symbiogenesis will introduce utility items, initially issued off the blockchain, which players may opt to trade on-chain through Polygon.
