The first of its kind, Sotheby’s single-owner NFT auction orchestrated by Maxstealth has seen impressive sales, exceeding $1.5 million.

One of the highly anticipated NFT collections took center stage on Wednesday at Sotheby’s New York Auction Room, where a remarkable assemblage of 26 digital collectibles from the famed NFT collector Maxstealth raised over $1.5 million.
Maxstealth, an enigmatic figure in the NFT community hailing from New Zealand, is revered as a pioneer in the Web3 realm, boasting a standout collection of valuable NFTs and digital art pieces.
The collection is the world’s first single-owner NFT auction The auction, titled 'Inside the World of Maxstealth: A Timeless Collection,' showcased impressive digital artworks from leading Web3 artists including Beeple, XCOPY, Hackatao, and Pak—the first of its kind to be auctioned at Sotheby’s.
Three notable pieces from digital artist Beeple were featured in Maxstealth’s impressive collection—'Bull Run', 'Into The Ether', and 'Infected'—which collectively fetched a whopping $100,800. Beeple is acclaimed for his innovative artistry. record-breaking NFT , “Everydays: The First 5000 Days.”
The renowned GIF artist XCOPY had his artwork 'The Departed' included in the auction, which commanded an astounding price of $630,000—the highest individual amount throughout the auction. Other notable NFTs also included Pak’s creation, which eclipsed half a million dollars. The Italian artistic duo Hackatao attracted over $330,000 for their contributions during this live auction event.
Other talented artists like Andres Risinger showcased their work, notably with a piece titled 'Elephant Dreams,' but a standout highlight from the auction was the collection known as 'The Great 7'—a series of seven NFTs acquired within a week back in October 2020. This impressive compilation features works by artists such as Pak, Hackatao, Andres Risinger, Trevor Jones, XCOPY, and Jose Delbo.

That same month, FC Barcelona also made headlines by selling their inaugural NFT for $693,000 during an auction in New York. This NFT, highly regarded as a masterpiece, is an audiovisual digital creation from Eric Sas and Alan Company of BCN Visuals. “In a Way, Immortal, ” Sotheby’s auction also featured 'phygital' rings as part of the event titled 'Art As Jewelry As Art.'
