Sotheby’s presents phygital rings at their intriguing auction, 'Art As Jewelry As Art'.
Sotheby’s, a traditional auction house, is gearing up for a Web3-centric auction called 'Art As Jewelry As Art'. Art As Jewelry As Art This auction, in partnership with Metagolden, will highlight jewelry crafted by various artists, showcasing 150 unique pieces from celebrated figures like Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, Alexander Calder, and more.
Metagolden Metagolden operates a Web3 platformdedicated to luxury collectibles, including jewelry, fine art, and high-end fashion. Their collaborations span numerous artists and brands, like Decentraland, Theory, Fred Segal, Kwiat, and Mood Operandi, emphasizing a fresh take on luxury goods.
The platform allows collectors to obtain phygital items, meaning that when they purchase an NFT, they also receive a tangible item. Metagolden will supply Sotheby's with digital representations of these jewelry pieces.
"This curated collection of artists’ jewelry seeks to reintroduce these creations to discerning collectors in a modern context, categorizing them as art that transcends mere adornment to become a true expression of individuality,\" says Tiffany Dubin, a specialist in artist jewelry at Sotheby’s.
The auction will be segmented into 'chapters' that represent various artistic movements: kinetic art, abstract expressionism, sculpture, surrealism, avant-garde, rebellious styles, minimalism, modernism, and visionary approaches. It will also include the unique 'Ethereum Expedition' ring crafted from 18k gold and emerald, inspired by the vastness of space and intercontinental rocket launches.
Bidding for this exciting auction opens on September 23 and will continue until October 4.
