sLABS presents its own interpretation of the 'Metaverse of Things' at a keynote event in Los Angeles.

On the date of May 21, our venture capital studio based in California, known as sLABS, rolled out their LNQ wearable internet technology at NeueHouse in Los Angeles after dedicating two years to perfecting both the hardware and software needed for a fresh take on the evolving 'Metaverse of Things.' With backing from JAY-Z’s Marcy Venture Partners (MVP) and collaborations with companies like Polygon and Pantone, sLABS is determined to turn its vision into reality. Spatial Labs ‘Most NFTs fall short in terms of real-world applicability,’ remarked sLABS founder Iddris Sandu right after stepping onto the stage for his keynote on LNQ. He provided a straightforward analogy: take a hammer, for example—its utility transcends market value fluctuations; you will always be able to use it effectively. Such utility holds intrinsic worth. In contrast, NFTs currently offer little more than a display of status.
As of now, Sandu pointed out, NFTs are mainly good for showing off. sLABS aims to provide the much-needed clarity that the NFT space lacks. ‘Our goal is to reshape the way people view NFTs and tokenization, moving away from seeing them merely as speculative assets, to providing something with tangible utility,’ Sandu explained. This is where LNQ, pronounced 'link,' comes into play, characterized as ‘an adaptable ecosystem designed to accrue value for the physical items you own.’ The launch event gave early adopters a tangible insight into what sLABS’ vision of 'the wearable internet' truly entails, showcasing their proprietary LNQ One chip—a technology designed to register real-world items on the blockchain akin to other existing technologies.
However, in contrast to other offerings, the sLABS chip currently operates solely with items designed and released by their team, featuring a 13mm waterproof LNQ One chip seamlessly integrated into those products. While incorporating third-party objects remains a possibility down the line, sLABS is already gearing up to release stylish capsule collections featuring their own branded 'Hardware'—a range of basic garments available in colors curated by Pantone, along with environmentally sustainable footwear created in collaboration with LA's Ales Gray.
Last weekend’s conference– available on YouTube Products linked to the blockchain via LNQ technology will function within sLABS’ innovative XR Metaverse, which will allow holders a passport conveying authenticity, ownership history, and various other personalized details. Users will even have the ability to monitor the fluctuating values of their items, ensuring their worth is preserved against physical degradation through digital longevity. Americana is at work on with help from Reddit’s co-founder.
Participants in this Metaverse aren't simply passive observers. They can engage in various activities such as WearDrops, secure files using the WearDrive, join virtual events, and trade collectibles with peers. Users navigate this ecosystem through their customized avatars; sLABS collaborates with Pantone to integrate their Skin Tone Guide, facilitating the creation of realistic avatars that represent every individual. The need for diversity in the Web3 environment is significant, and the essence of Black excellence resonated throughout the sLABS launch.
‘In addition to these integrations, Pantone has teamed up with sLABS to create a unique palette of six colors that embody the brand’s unique spirit,’ states a press release about their partnership. ‘Inspired by connectivity, nature, and biomimicry, the collection features cosmic blue (PANTONE 2728 C), playful pink coral (PANTONE 709 C), soft lilac (PANTONE 2107 C), Pureed Pumpkin (PANTONE 17-1449 TCX), rich ebony (PANTONE 19-4104 TCX), and French Oak (PANTONE 13-0400 TCX). The colors evoke sensations of optimism, comfort, and confidence, laying a robust groundwork as we progress toward future innovations.’
The recent launch event is merely the first step in a series of upcoming initiatives from sLABS and their partners, not only shaping culture but also leveraging the global apparel and footwear market, which is currently valued at $2 trillion, with projections estimating it to reach $3.3 trillion by 2030. ‘Auras’ for LNQ avatars in Pantone-selected colors will roll out later this year, along with additional clothing lines, features, and anticipated waitlists.
In the past, JAY-Z transformed the music and fashion worlds through his Rocawear brand. Now, he's channeling his life’s successes to pioneer a smarter, more stylish future. Keep an eye out for sLABS’ innovative approach to the Metaverse of Things as they make waves in the industry.
