With the launch of its SDK and Gadgets, Scroll sets the stage for Ethereum's upcoming multichain ecosystem.
In Brief
In a significant step toward making blockchain more user-friendly, Scroll has unveiled its SDK along with Gadgets aimed at reaching a broader audience.

Ethereum Layer 2 network Scroll Scroll announced the launch of its SDK and Gadgets to further its mission of making blockchain technology more accessible to everyone.
The Scroll SDK is equipped with a ready-to-use toolkit for launching standalone blockchain networks, secured using zkEVM technology crafted by Scroll, designed to cater to a multitude of application needs without sacrificing safety or performance. With this SDK, users can set up their own Layer 2 networks. users Users can configure their chain parameters via the command line interface (CLI), initiate the network with just one command, and enjoy tailored interfaces for block explorers and bridges.
Part of the Scroll SDK is the incorporation of custom gas tokens, and efforts are underway to integrate Validium solutions like Avail Data Availability, EigenDA, and Celestia to further enhance capabilities. In addition, Scroll has formed strategic partnerships with top infrastructure players such as Blockscout and Goldsky, ensuring comprehensive support for the SDK. Collaborations also extend to essential decentralized application (dApp) tools with Protofire, RedStone Oracles, and SimpleHash.
Gadgets: Core Components for a Scalable Framework.
Included in the Scroll SDK are Gadgets—optional modules designed to customize and improve Scroll SDK blockchains. These Gadgets ensure that chains can tap into shared infrastructure effectively to tackle critical challenges within the rollup landscape without falling into vendor lock-in.
Each Gadget comprises a collection of protocols and shared infrastructure, strategically developed to meet specific challenges. By selecting particular Gadgets, chains can enhance their functionality, leverage network effects, while retaining autonomy in their operations.
The inaugural Gadget, the Interoperability Gadget, provides a seamless experience throughout a network of rollups, promoting scalability and maximizing network effects without compromising security and independence of each chain.
Utilizing Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs), efficient zero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs) for balance validation, and crypto-economic assurances, the Interoperability Gadget emulates Single-Slot Finality on Layer 1 networks and expedited ZKP generation on Layer 2 networks. It offers a secure, trustless internet-scale infrastructure while actively addressing Ethereum’s issues with fragmentation.
Scroll This scaling solution is meticulously crafted for Ethereum with a focus on security, leveraging the latest advances in scalability and ZKP technology to create an added layer on top of Ethereum. The aim is to boost accessibility, responsiveness, and scalability—capable of accommodating a higher influx of concurrent users than what Ethereum's original infrastructure can support.
