Sam Altman's Worldcoin Teams Up with Okta for Identity Verification, Introducing World ID in Germany
In Brief
Worldcoin has seamlessly integrated its 'Sign in with Worldcoin' option into Okta's Auth0 Marketplace.
'Sign in with Worldcoin' serves as a social login feature that facilitates smoother sign-ups and logins for users, applications, and developers, all while ensuring user privacy is upheld.
In sync with this, Worldcoin has also introduced World ID to the German market.

Worldcoin, the open-source platform co-founded by Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, has announced announced the joining of its social login feature 'Sign in with Worldcoin' with Okta’s Auth0 Marketplace.
The synergy produced through Worldcoin’s decentralized identity system, World ID, provides millions of users who have already authenticated their World ID with access to platforms relying on Auth0 for authentication.
Worldcoin states that this integration has a double-edged benefit: it provides online app developers with a reliable framework for confirming user authenticity to protect against bots, all while allowing users to keep their data private. A zero-knowledge proof (ZKP) is created on their gadget, confirming their identity without exposing any of their personal information.
"Our collaboration with Okta’s Auth0 marketplace is aimed at aiding myriad apps and services in verifying human users, simplifying sign-ups, and giving users confidence that their private data remains secure. Developers are only starting to tap into the potential of next-generation, privacy-focused ZK identity protocols like World ID,\" shared Tiago Sada, the product head at Tools for Humanity and a key contributor to Worldcoin, in a correspondence with Metaverse Post.
For users wanting to access specific apps or services through Auth0, a simple click on the 'Sign in with Worldcoin' button is all it takes.
A QR code will pop up, allowing users to effortlessly scan it using their World App or any compatible World ID wallet. This user-friendly process ensures access without any extra fuss. Meanwhile, developers receive a privacy-friendly nullifier hash linked to the app, ensuring continuity across sessions, as well as a secure proof of personhood.
Currently, there are two paths to verify a user’s World ID. Users can choose a phone verification, which is functional yet limited, or they can opt for a comprehensive verification method utilizing Orb, the biometric imaging device crafted specifically for confirming identity in the Worldcoin initiative.
The Orb previously drew criticism Concerns previously arose regarding privacy when details about the device surfaced in 2021. Reports indicated that it might store hashed iris scans in a centralized database, potentially exposing users to data collection risks. Additionally, since a retina print is immutable, if it were to be compromised, the user’s means of identity verification would become permanently invalid.
Organizations interested in adding 'Sign in with Worldcoin' to their offerings can easily register their application through the Worldcoin Developer Portal and follow installation instructions .
World ID launches in Germany
Simultaneously with the Okta partnership, World ID is starting to see registrations in Germany, kicking off in Berlin with intentions to expand to additional regions. This launch aims to provide residents in Germany with a legally verifiable digital ID and a credential confirming their identity. has launched Worldcoin asserts that its World ID and the accompanying biometric device, The Orb, adhere to German and broader European data protection regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
For those keen to verify their identities, they can find designated locations by following updates on Worldcoin’s social media channels or checking their World App, which is a World ID-compatible wallet created by Tools for Humanity (TFH), the tech organization behind Worldcoin. Each site will be equipped with The Orb, which Worldcoin emphasizes is crucial to its ecosystem.
