Saga Unveils the Release of Pegasus,
San Francisco, California, October 30, 2023, Chainwire
The eagerly awaited Incentivized Testnet is here, presenting new benchmarks that feature the SAGA Token Airdrop and 282 innovative projects from the Layer-1 protocol.
The wait is over. Saga This leading Layer-1 protocol and development ecosystem within the web3 gaming arena has introduced Pegasus, their new Incentivized Testnet. This platform enables game developers to unleash their creativity to its fullest extent. This launch marks the beginning of a detailed six-part rollout leading to the full Saga Protocol V1 Mainnet expected in early 2024, which aims to unlock the full potential of blockchain technology for both developers and consumers.
Initially announced at the Saga Multiverse Summit in August, Pegasus has progressed rapidly from its initial development timeline to accommodate the needs of both Saga’s Innovators and collaborative partners. The Saga Protocol boasts an all-in-one stack of automated, high-performance, gasless, interoperable, and customizable chains known as Chainlets. The primary Realm within this protocol will be the Saga Chainlet Realm. Earlier this year, Saga launched Realms, an essential element of the Saga Multiverse – a unique platform that allows various tech stacks and intellectual properties to operate on the protocol and communicate via parallel and interoperable dedicated chains.
With Saga Realms, developers can create tailored chains on the Saga network, equipped with a variety of features and services such as technology stacks, security sources, and different obligations for those sources. Within the Realms framework, the standard Saga Chainlet will represent one Realm among many that will be supported in the future, including collaboration with our partners from Ethereum (Ethlets), Polygon, Avalanche, Celestia, XPLA, and others. The launch today will facilitate the introduction of configurable Realms right from the start.
The Pegasus Incentivized Testnet comprises the Saga Chainlet Realm and critical architectural elements necessary for integrating all other Realms. Collectively, the security chain and platform chain will form the backbone of the Saga Mainnet.
- Security chain – acts as the inaugural source of security for the Saga framework.
- Platform chain – serves as the destination for developers to initiate and sustain their Chainlets.
- Chainlet – is where all applications reside, and user interactions take place. The initial Chainlet stack will be an EVM-compatible Chainlet designed to accommodate the extensive Solidity and Ethereum ecosystem. However, the overarching aim is to achieve VM-agnostic functionality, enabling developers to launch projects in their preferred environments.
Saga firmly believes that its strength lies in its vibrant community. To celebrate the launch of the Incentivized Testnet, Saga is initiating a campaign where developers, end users, validators, and community members who take part in launch quests and demonstrate positive contributions to the Saga ecosystem will be rewarded with an airdrop* of SAGA tokens. The initial beneficiaries of these tokens are Saga’s Innovators – the developers currently engaged in projects on Saga, who are essential to the protocol and will require a significant timeframe to complete their quests. Detailed information regarding the Innovators' quest prerequisites can be found on Saga’s Medium , along with specifics about their tokenomics, how to claim airdrops, and any extra benefits tied to the launch. Saga will also provide quest specifics for the wider community in the forthcoming weeks.
"Saga boasts one of the finest communities one could hope for in a protocol. Witnessing our Innovators express their creativity during this Incentivized Testnet gives us greater confidence in achieving success,\" stated Rebecca Liao, Co-Founder and CEO of Saga. \"We've observed exceptional gaming applications reaching a demonstrable state, and we are excited to see them go live on the Saga platform. We are wholly devoted to empowering their growth in every possible way.\"
Saga has also introduced the members of Cohort 5, the latest group of Innovators welcomed into the Saga ecosystem, which showcases a wide array of global game developers. This new cohort brings the total number of Innovator projects to 282, with over 300 anticipated by the Mainnet launch in 2024. Further details and updates regarding Cohort 5 can be found here .
*Note: The airdrop is not available to individuals in the U.S. (or those acting on behalf of U.S. residents). To qualify for the airdrop, you must not fall under the definition of a U.S. Person as specified in Rule 902 of the United States Securities Act of 1933, nor should you meet the criteria of a U.S. person as defined under Section 7701(a)(30) of the United States Internal Revenue Code. Full terms and conditions for participating in the airdrop will be made available during the claims process.
About the Saga Protocol
Saga is an advanced Layer-1 protocol that empowers developers to effortlessly create parallelized and interoperable dedicated chains that can scale flexibly based on their Web3 application requirements. By leveraging shared security, state-of-the-art validator orchestration, and a standardized automated deployment pipeline across any blockchain VM, Saga makes the process of launching a dedicated chain or Chainlet as simple as deploying a smart contract. It stands out as the only end-to-end developer platform in Web3 meeting the essential triad of developer needs: ease of deployment, cost-effectiveness, and speed/scalability.
