White House official said.
According to the White House, AI is currently a major focus for President Biden. White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients is coordinating efforts to implement actions on AI regulation in the weeks ahead. White House officials meet two to three times a week to engage in discussions about AI and seek commitments from top AI companies . These discussions aim to address challenges emerging from both governmental and private sectors.
Biden urged cautioning about the development of AI chatbots, underscoring the importance for companies to emphasize safety prior to any public deployment. In April, he consulted with experts in science and technology, including representatives from Google and Microsoft, to assess both the risks and opportunities presented by artificial intelligence. Furthermore, the Biden administration announced a $140 million investment in AI research.
