Polium has embarked on a project to create the first-ever gaming console tailored for NFTs.

Web3 company Polium announced The Polium One is being developed as the first gaming console tailored for Web3 environments, with its launch expected in the third quarter of 2024.
Although there are numerous Web3 games currently available, they typically share a common limitation—they are primarily designed for PCs. Considering the strong preference many gamers have for consoles over PCs, this could represent an unexplored opportunity within the Web3 gaming sector.
Polium One will support multiple blockchain networks, allowing gamers the freedom to play a variety of titles. As long as the games are compatible with platforms like ImmutableX, Solana, Ethereum, Polygon, BNB, EOS, Wax, and Harmony, players will enjoy seamless access on the Polium One.
According to the company’s blog, this console is designed to offer impressive capabilities for high-performance gaming while being user-friendly for gamers who may not be familiar with Web 3 technology. This could help bridge the gap and encourage more players to dive into Web 3 gaming who may feel hesitant about blockchain technology.
Polium also boasts Equipped with 4K Ultra HD output, support for ray tracing, and a smooth 120 frames per second gameplay, users will be able to trade NFTs through the marketplace, utilize multi-chain wallets, and access various applications. Furthermore, the Polium One controller features a fingerprint scanner for enhanced security.

Polium has faced some backlash due to its logo’s similarity to that of the Nintendo GameCube. The company has attributed this similarity to chance but has since revealed its plans to rebrand the logo.
Only time will reveal if Polium can meet its ambitious goals or if it will join the ranks of underwhelming ventures like the Ouya in the gaming landscape. Ouya Ouya was a highly anticipated console that started on Kickstarter, raising an impressive $8,596,474 from over 63,000 backers. However, after its release, it failed to live up to expectations, ultimately leading to its downfall.
