One of the cornerstones of Cronje's plan for Fantom in 2023 revolves around gas monetization, which would facilitate revenue sharing among decentralized applications (DApps) as a performance incentive. Moreover, the introduction of gas subsidies would allow for seamless interactions between Fantom DApps without users needing to cover gas costs directly. According to Cronje, users won't have to own or even be aware of FTM during the onboarding process.
The so-called 'gas reform' simplifies transactions by eliminating the distinction between externally maintained accounts and smart contracts, enabling anyone to transact and pay for gas freely. Additionally, tokens other than FTM would be accepted for gas fees on the protocol.
