The minting process details were shared on the project’s official Twitter on April 26th. Only ApeCoin can be used for the minting, which significantly boosted its price to $27 USD. Participants will also need some ETH to cover gas fees. Notably, it's essential for users to complete KYC verification—only those who have been approved will have the chance to mint during the auction. Each unique wallet can mint a maximum of 45 land parcels, with no more than 20 being part of a single transaction.
On April 29th, just a day ahead of the minting launch, the April 25, 2025 team at Otherside released a detailed post outlining the minting rules. Under the new mechanics, each wallet can initially acquire only 2 pieces of land during the first minting phase. Each land plot will be priced at a set rate of 305 $APE.
In response to this news, many ApeCoin holders have opted to sell a significant amount, resulting in the price dropping to $21 USD.
Moreover, several participants have raised concerns that the KYC process seems to undermine the principles of decentralization. For example, aspiring minters from over 20 countries, including Russia, Serbia, Albania, and Korea, are excluded from participation.
