Opera Introduces Aria, a New AI Seamlessly Integrated Within Its Web Browser

The launch of Aria marks a significant milestone for Opera, as this AI chatbot is designed to integrate naturally within the browsing interface, all thanks to Opera's partnership with OpenAI.

Aria is offered as a free service that connects users with live information sourced from the internet, now made available across more than 180 countries, inclusive of the EU. Opera’s management highlights that blog post Aria is built upon Opera's proprietary 'Composer' architecture, enabling it to tap into OpenAI's GPT capabilities. This flexible infrastructure allows for the integration of various AI models, making Aria highly adaptable.

With Aria, users can leverage AI to search the web for information, create written content or code, and address inquiries related to various products. Moreover, Aria can help with customer support by utilizing Opera’s comprehensive support database and its deep knowledge of current products to assist with user questions.

According to Joanna Czajka, the Product Director at Opera for PC, 'AI is rapidly transforming how we engage with work, navigate the web, and reconsider the role of browsers in enhancing online experiences.'

Looking ahead, Opera intends to enrich Aria with more advanced features, including search capabilities from its key partners, aiming to create a more cohesive user experience.

The rollout of Aria signifies a pivotal advancement in Opera’s goal to infuse generative AI services into its browsers, as it competes with giants like Google and Microsoft in the ongoing browser competition. Earlier this year, Opera announced expressed intentions to integrate AI-generated content services into its desktop and mobile browsers. In April, the firm released its new AI-powered browser , Opera One.

Desktop users can now experience Aria firsthand by downloading the latest developer version of Opera One, while Android users can try Aria through the latest beta version, which is available for download in the Google Play Store

To access Aria, users will need to create an Opera account to be placed on the whitelist. Once whitelisted, they can utilize Aria via the settings in Opera for Android beta or through the Opera One browser's sidebar.
