Introducing Aria: Opera GX's AI Solution to Enhance Your Browsing Journey

In Brief

Opera claims Aria’s uniqueness stems from the company's proprietary architecture that traditional AI models do not possess.

Internet browser Opera , today announced the launch of Aria for Opera GX - a generative AI embedded within the browser that is designed to heighten productivity and user engagement. The company states that this AI seamlessly weaves into the Opera GX framework, providing users with numerous tools such as answering questions, coding assistance, engaging dialogue, and supporting online gaming.

Earlier this year, Opera rolled out the Aria generative AI to streamline web searches. Today, it's officially integrating Aria into Opera GX, a browser specifically crafted for the gaming community, to further enhance their online exploration.

The company emphasizes that Aria distinguishes itself with Opera’s exclusive proprietary architecture, aiming to deliver immediate responses to the varied needs of GX users. Users simply have to create a free Opera account to tap into this AI resource.

"Aria operates on Opera's innovative Composer AI engine and seamlessly connects to other services,\" stated Maciej Kocemba, product director of Opera, in an interview with Metaverse Post. \"It has been further enhanced to provide live results from the web and is free to use directly within Opera GX.\" OpenAI’s GPT models Opera highlighted that Aria is closely tied to Opera's AI Prompts feature, launched earlier this year, which encourages a more user-friendly browsing environment.

Utilizing Generative AI for More Enjoyable Browsing

Alongside connecting to OpenAI’s GPT and providing real-time web results, Opera’s Composer system is designed for scalability. The company contends that this allows for connections to various AI models and will continue to evolve with new features, including search capabilities from key partners.

"With live results, Aria can deliver information straight from the web. We've been conducting weekly tests and integrating user feedback to enhance accuracy where necessary,\" Kocemba explained to Metaverse Post. \"We always recommend users double-check responses provided by Aria, as there's a chance they might not be entirely accurate.\"

Kocemba pointed out that one of Aria’s standout qualities is its usability for everyone. Recognizing the demands of keyboard enthusiasts, Opera GX has introduced a command line feature.

With the ctrl+/ command on Windows or cmd+/ on Macs, users can initiate a quick overlay to interact with Aria seamlessly. This process allows for an engaging AI experience without interrupting their browsing. Early adopters of Opera GX can now directly engage with the browser's AI for swift updates on the latest in gaming and invaluable insights.

The company also noted that this integration is enhanced by the AI Prompts feature, enabling users to highlight text within the browser for instant access to relevant information, fostering deeper interactions.

"When we developed Aria, accessibility and user control were at the forefront. To activate AI Prompts, users simply highlight any text on a page, and an AI Prompt appears, allowing them to take action. The results from Aria will then appear in the sidebar,\" elaborated Kocemba. \"They can continue browsing, leaving inquiries for later in Aria or dive directly into it when ready. It's all tailored to fit individual user needs and workflows.\"

Opera has announced that Aria will be accessible in over 180 countries, including those in the EU, through Opera GX on both Windows and macOS. This feature has also been rolled out in the main Opera browser across Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS devices.

To activate Aria, users can go to settings, turn on the 'Early Bird' option, and then enable both the 'Aria Extension' and 'Aria Command Line.'

"Aria can be accessed in every language available on Opera. We are also adjusting it to ensure neutrality and cater to all user demographics,\" Kocemba shared with Metaverse Post. \"We believe that engaging with a browser AI is a significant advantage for our users, encouraging more time spent with our platform. Currently, we’re in the early phases but have a roadmap filled with updates planned ahead.\"
