Opera Teams Up with OpenAI to Enhance AI-Driven Content Strategies

In Brief

Opera has revealed a partnership with OpenAI to develop a browser powered by artificial intelligence.

Through this collaboration, Opera will receive tailored assistance from the research team at OpenAI.

Today, Opera announced its collaborative effort with OpenAI, the AI research organization recognized for creating ChatGPT. This announcement follows Opera's shared plans to implement AI-generated content services within its browser as it ventures into the AIGC arena to take on competitors like Google and Bing.

With this partnership, Opera seeks to weave artificial intelligence and generative computing innovations into its offerings. By integrating OpenAI's API, Opera will access OpenAI's suite of AI models and benefit from dedicated guidance from its research experts. A recent press statement highlighted that this move will enable the Oslo-based company to better adapt the upcoming iterations of its desktop and mobile browsers to meet web users' evolving needs.

Opera plans to embed popular AI-generated content functionalities directly into its browser interface. Furthermore, the company is vigorously innovating new tools that will utilize generative AI capabilities to enrich the user experience.

One of the initial features being trialed is a new 'Shorten' button, which will appear on the address bar. This feature will employ AI technology to produce concise summaries of web pages or articles.

"We are on the cusp of a fresh wave of creativity on the Internet thanks to generative AI. As we explore new applications, we're redesigning our browser so users can fully harness AI's potential in the most effective way possible,\"

expressed Krystian Kolondra, Opera’s Executive Vice President for PC Browser and Gaming.

In addition to integrating AI features into its browser, Opera is also enhancing its web3 capabilities. The web browser firm recently partnered is collaborating with Unstoppable Domains to facilitate browsing and the creation of websites featuring Unstoppable domain extensions like .crypto, .zil, .x, .nft, and .wallet.
