=nil; Foundation Reveals Its Strategic Timeline, Plans Devnet Launch This July and Testnet V1 for the Ecosystem in November

In Brief

=nil; Foundation has made its public product roadmap available, setting Devnet's launch for July, with an Alpha mainnet release aimed for 2025.

A developer with expertise in zero-knowledge technology and Ethereum scalability solutions has unveiled a public roadmap. =nil; Foundation The foundation has outlined plans to roll out its Devnet (V0) in July, followed by the first ecosystem testnet V1 in November. Subsequent testnet versions, V2 and V3, are targeted for release in the second and third quarters of 2025, respectively, leading up to the Alpha version of the mainnet expected in Q4 of 2025. Eventually, =nil; Foundation aims to shift from this Alpha phase into a fully decentralized model.

With the launch of Devnet, participants will be able to launch and interact with contracts, check contract statuses, and showcase both synchronous and asynchronous contract calls under various circumstances. While the primary focus will be on developing different architectures for decentralized exchanges (DEX), developers are encouraged to create any kind of project. This phase will act as the initial trial for zkSharding, allowing a select group of builders to collaborate closely with the core team to identify bugs, enhance tool support, and conduct stress tests on the system.

The V1 Ecosystem testnet will prioritize the development of hyper-scalable applications while incorporating feedback from the Devnet phase. It will feature a networking infrastructure layer, modifications based on insights from Devnet, and additional support for builder tools and dependencies. This stage will implement real sharding and will be available to a wider audience of users.

In the following phases, V2 and V3 testnets are expected to roll out improvements aimed at enhancing both developer experience (DevEx) and user experience (UX), as well as ensuring compatibility with key development tools. The highly-anticipated mainnet will introduce zkEVM capabilities, enhancements to the Placeholder Proof System for better performance, a canonical bridge, advancements in proof generation speed and cost, comprehensive system audits, and thorough developer documentation. zkEVM Our team has been diligently working to bring zkSharding to the Ethereum ecosystem.

What Is =nil;?

In zkSharding, execution shards generate zero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs) to validate intra-shard state transitions, while a dedicated consensus shard oversees the overall state of the cluster. This consensus shard synchronizes with the execution shards and creates a primary ZKP that gets sent to Ethereum for global verification.

This methodology offers a smart solution for scaling Ethereum, effectively sidestepping the common pitfalls associated with modular designs, such as issues with state and liquidity fragmentation. zero-knowledge proofs By introducing a zero-knowledge rollup that can expand Ethereum's capabilities to over 60,000 transactions per second (TPS) through zkSharding, this solution harnesses the advantages of both modular and monolithic frameworks, ensuring a cohesive liquidity and state while allowing full interoperability with Ethereum. Combining with sharding, zkSharding facilitates parallel transaction processing while maintaining a unified state, thereby significantly enhancing Ethereum's scalability without the usual drawbacks seen with modular approaches.
