Having entered the Web3 space earlier, Nike’s acquisition of the creator-focused studio RTFKT (which was founded in 2020 by Benoit Pagotto, Chris Le, and Steven Vasilev) set the foundation for its future projects. However, this new platform is distinct from RTFKT, functioning as an independent project aiming to demystify Web3 and attract the brand's loyal supporters.
.SWOOSH The forthcoming platform promises to be the ultimate destination for Nike's virtual creations, empowering customers to collaboratively define the future of the brand and its next-gen phygital apparel. The virtual collectible offerings will encompass clothing, footwear, and various accessories tailored for gaming and immersive environments. Users will enjoy the flexibility to create, purchase, trade, and hold both phygital and digital items on the platform. In an exciting twist, participants can even develop their own usernames under the '.nike' domain to showcase their work. Additionally, owning collectibles will unlock exclusive access to online and in-person community events featuring Nike designers and athletes. Users will also have opportunities for special release access, exclusive content, pre-orders for limited items, and entry into community challenges.
.SWOOSH is officially launching on November 18, with the first virtual collection expected to drop in January 2023.
