While he didn't disclose a specific timeline, he reassured the audience that the Meta team is diligently working to launch NFTs on the platform 'in the near future.'
Users on Instagram will soon have the capability to create and flaunt their NFTs as profile pictures. This follows Twitter's recent implementation, which allowed users to set verified NFTs as hexagon-shaped profile images, with Reddit quickly jumping on board to experiment with similar NFT profile features.
The entrepreneur believes During the SXSW discussion, he posited that digital items like virtual apparel could potentially amass a market as significant as that of physical goods. He also indicated that Meta might eventually incorporate NFTs into its metaverse, stating: mentioned “I envision that the outfits your avatar dons in the metaverse can be minted as NFTs, allowing you to carry them across various virtual spaces. There are several technical hurdles that need addressing before this becomes a seamless reality.”
