NetApp Expands Intelligent Data Infrastructure Features in Collaboration with NVIDIA

In Brief

NetApp has rolled out AIPod, FlexPod, and validations for NVIDIA OVX systems, designed to aid organizations in leveraging generative AI for improved operational efficiency and refined decision-making processes.

Company specializing in intelligent data infrastructure NetApp Recently, the firm unveiled sophisticated capabilities designed to support enterprises utilizing generative AI to optimize operational efficiency and guide strategic decisions. New updates to the intelligent data infrastructure include the introduction of NetApp AIPod, FlexPod, and validations for NVIDIA OVX systems.

AIPod, which is optimized for AI, provides a converged infrastructure designed for critical AI endeavors, including both training and inference stages. The certification of NetApp ONTAP and NetApp AFF A900 as storage solutions for the NVIDIA DGX BasePOD, along with compatibility for NVIDIA DGX H100, confirms to NetApp and NVIDIA DGX users that the DGX BasePOD equipped with NetApp’s AFF A900 is capable of handling their extensive AI deployment needs. Importantly, AIPod also continues to support NVIDIA DGX A100 systems.

The newly upgraded FlexPod for AI expands the previous partnership between NetApp and Cisco in creating converged infrastructure. This upgraded version now seamlessly integrates the NVIDIA AI Enterprise software platform, and it is now possible to integrate FlexPod for AI with RedHat OpenShift and SuSE Rancher.

The collaboration between NetApp's storage solutions and NVIDIA OVX computing systems offers a streamlined pathway for enterprise-level AI deployments, facilitating processes like model fine-tuning and inference workloads. The validated NVIDIA OVX products, empowered by NVIDIA L40S GPUs, can be procured from server vendors and include NVIDIA AI Enterprise software alongside NVIDIA Quantum-2 InfiniBand or NVIDIA Spectrum-X Ethernet coupled with NVIDIA BlueField-3 DPUs.

Moreover, NetApp has launched innovative cyber-resilience features, pioneering the application of AI and machine learning within storage systems to counter ransomware threats. This groundbreaking tool, known as Autonomous Ransomware Protection with AI, enhances the ability to identify and mitigate advanced and evolving cyber threats.

NetApp offers tailored solutions aimed at maximizing the potential of clients' investments in AI. \"Our distinctive AI approach allows customers comprehensive control over their data throughout its lifecycle, enabling seamless transitions between public cloud environments and on-premises infrastructures,\" stated Arunkumar Gururajan, the Vice President of Data Science & Research at NetApp. \"By organizing object storage based on each stage of the AI process, our clients can fine-tune performance and cost efficiencies precisely where required.\"
