Mythical Games Shifts Blockchain: Transitioning the Mythical Chain from Ethereum to Polkadot Ecosystem
Web3 gaming powerhouse Mythical Games has revealed its intention to move the Mythical Chain from Ethereum to the Polkadot ecosystem. In conjunction with this shift, Mythical Games aims to establish a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) on Polkadot, empowering new gaming partners and projects to tap into the technology and community that Polkadot offers.
After the transition, the Mythical Chain will empower Mythos gaming partners to develop their own chains, leading to what Mythical Games refers to as a ‘Superchain,’ a versatile platform designed for scalability that will be available to all Mythos partners while remaining compliant with mainstream gaming platforms, including the Epic Games Store.
Björn Wagner, CEO of Parity Technologies—an influential player in the Polkadot network—mentioned in a press statement that projects utilizing the Mythical Chain will possess the capability to create their own ecosystems on Polkadot, complete with bespoke governance structures and financial management.
Reflecting on the rationale behind the switch, John Linden, the Founder and CEO of Mythical Games, expressed:
"Our decision to depart from the Ethereum ecosystem stems from several concerns regarding transaction speeds, which, despite utilizing Layer 2 roll-ups, still pose potential challenges to Mythical’s scaling ambitions for our upcoming titles this year.\"
Mythical Games' proficiency in Web3 gaming and streaming innovations will also significantly enrich the Polkadot ecosystem. As outlined in a press announcement, the company orchestrates over 3 million digital asset transactions each month, boasting 200,000 active wallets that conduct transactions exceeding 1 million MYTH tokens daily, alongside a growing array of games.
In addition to the migration to Polkadot, Mythical Games is set to provide its users with a cutting-edge digital asset reservation system that is currently patent-pending. This innovative system will securely hold items in escrow on the blockchain, ensuring that all transactions remain traceable on-chain, even if purchases are made using traditional fiat currencies within conventional gaming frameworks.
The system currently adheres to the standards required by major gaming platforms such as Epic Games Store, Apple iOS, and Google Play. Furthermore, the company aims to broaden the scope of compatibility, facilitating the expansion of both Mythical and Polkadot communities.
This announcement has come at an exciting moment, coinciding with the worldwide launch of the first officially licensed blockchain video game from the National Football League (NFL) and the NFL Players Association (NFLPA), developed in collaboration with Mythical Games. This innovative game allows players to own, collect, and trade in-game assets while assembling their ultimate teams.
