The Maestro Telegram bot for cryptocurrency trading encountered a serious vulnerability on the ETH Mainnet that resulted in the theft of over 280 ETH (roughly $458,000) in digital assets. After the encountered issue was discovered, the Maestro team rapidly responded by updating to a more secure router version, allowing trading to continue without the previous risk of similar breaches. The individual responsible for the exploit managed to siphon off 280 ETH through token sales before the Maestro team could permanently neutralize the threat. Once the new router was secured, the focus shifted to determining refund options. This was a complex matter, considering that the affected users lost tokens rather than ETH.

Additionally, the Maestro bot expended 276 ETH to protect users’ tokens. Users are encouraged to verify their token allocations by checking the token contracts within the bot and confirming them against their wallets.

Regarding the two remaining tokens, JOE and LMI, a lack of sufficient liquidity hindered the team's ability to repurchase them. Thus, affected users were refunded the ETH equivalent of their tokens, along with an additional 20% bonus as a goodwill gesture. Overall, the refund disbursements totaled 334 ETH.

Nonetheless, holders of JOE and LMI tokens experienced substantial losses. Even with a 20% bonus refund, it doesn't quite compensate for the situation, especially given that these tokens’ values surged today.

Remarkably, the entire refund process was finalized within a span of just 10 hours, costing the team a total of 610 ETH in the process. They confirmed that Maestro: Router 2 is now fully secure, with the team committed to upholding user safety and satisfaction.
