Legends At War places great value on player input as a cornerstone for creating the finest MMORTS web3 title.
In Brief
Legends At War is a blockchain-based MMORTS game set within a Medieval sandbox world, co-developed with input from its player community.
During a special interview with Metaverse Post, the Legends At War team shared insights about in-game competitions, community involvement, and the web3 gaming landscape.
The second beta tournament for Legends At War launched on December 17.

Blockchain game Legends At War (LAW) is engaging with a global community to create the premier massively multiplayer online real-time strategy game, providing opportunities for players to voice their ideas and suggestions while ensuring they benefit from digital asset ownership, monthly competitions, and various rewards.
Legends At War is an innovative MMORTS title currently undergoing beta testing. Utilizing a tailored version of Polygon Edge, the LAW Blockchain allows players to establish their villages within a Medieval realm while ensuring their virtual assets gain real-world value as they expand their territory.
Players are highly encouraged to provide their insights and feedback throughout the web3 game. With a dedicated development team of over 30 professionals, LAW aims to establish the ultimate MMORTS experience by prioritizing player perspectives.
“Our goal is to have real gamers testing the game The team at Legends At War expressed to Metaverse Post that the essence of web3 lies in community involvement.
Legends At War regularly conducts monthly beta tournaments, with the second one commencing on December 17.
According to Wojciech Kaszycki, the CEO and co-founder of LAW, \"Legends At War delivers an exceptional mix of content, competition, and community for our players. Our beta phases leading up to the public launch enable users to engage in cross-platform MMORTS while earning tangible rewards, all while observing our development team actively integrate the most notable feedback into the game.\"

Legends At War is a game crafted by the community
The integration of blockchain technology is a key factor that distinguishes Legends At War from other popular MMORTS titles. Web3 games can guarantee that in-game assets are unique and owned by players, all while rewarding them and enabling community-driven creation.
LAW has set up a suggestion channel on Discord, where Jason Dooney, the Chief Product Officer, engages with players during live tournaments.
"We invite players to test the game, report any errors, and share their suggestions to improve our experience. We value this feedback, and our development team promptly addresses player comments,\" he mentioned.
Dooney explained.

LAW merges the concept of creating and recruiting Legendary Heroes from the era of the Hundred Years’ War. Each army, commanded by these Legendary Heroes, features four troop slots that players can fill based on their strategic goals. These Heroes may be either algorithmically generated or rare figures like Edward the Black Prince or Joan of Arc, complete with a detailed skill tree that enhances the army's capabilities and allows for leveling, artifact equipping, and trading.

The game is also exploring customizable heroes, allowing players to craft historically inspired items and apparel, enhancing the value of their avatars and enriching the immersive gameplay experience.
Legends At War offers a rich city-building experience where players can train diverse troops, craft essential items, and engage in extensive battles.

Kaszycki elaborated on some game features:
"Our sophisticated political sandbox enables players to form or join large alliances or small groups at will. New players are randomly distributed across the map. Thus, even if you start with friends, you’ll need to establish connections with nearby players for your safety. You can negotiate individual agreements where you pay a one-time or daily offering to local players for protection, or make demands from them. This creates a dynamic environment where you might forge new friendships and choose your allies during conflicts.\"
Monthly beta tournaments with rewards
Legends At War organizes monthly beta tournaments that allow players to compete in week-long, month-long, and extended events alongside friends and allies for substantial rewards. This setup promotes exciting gameplay that strengthens bonds among players and motivates them to enhance their skills.
The inaugural tournament took place from November 2 to November 9, attracting 500 participants who competed in a capital capture mode. The two victors received $400 and $1,250 in gaming PCs as prizes.
For Legends At War, community feedback is essential for refining the game. The tournaments are free to enter, but players need an invitation. The second beta tournament kicks off on December 17, featuring 2,500 players competing for more than $5,000 in total rewards.
The goal is to consistently improve each tournament, and the team actively encourages gamers to evaluate the game and provide genuine feedback. They compile responses, review them, and invest the following weeks in implementing updates prior to the next tournament.
In addition to monetary rewards, players can earn a complimentary SBT (Soulbound Tokens) that will grant them unique functionalities once the game is publicly released.
Web3 gaming is the future of digital entertainment
According to the LAW team, the major advantages of web3 gaming lie in digital ownership, scarcity, and transparency. Digital ownership empowers players to have true control over their in-game assets.
"I believe that’s the essence of web3, the democratization of everything, allowing a deeper understanding of players’ desires and granting them real ownership of their gaming experience,\" Dooney remarked. \"Rather than spending 300 hours creating assets controlled by studio servers, players can now hold their investments. Thus, if I dedicate considerable time constructing an impressive capital, I can be sure that my efforts translate into genuine value for me as a player.\"
Scarcity also presents an exciting opportunity. web3 gaming Dooney noted, \"In traditional games, item rarity is often superficial. For example, I might be able to find a legendary sword which looks remarkable and is nearly unbeatable. However, my friend, who invests the same amount of time, can also obtain it. And so could countless others. Web3 gaming enables true rarity to emerge. I might discover a legendary piece or earn a mythical drop, confirmed on-chain to be a unique item or one out of a million. This enhances the thrill of pursuing and acquiring such items and makes ownership feel significantly more rewarding.\"
Finally, web3 gaming offers a level of transparency. The public release of Legends At War will be entirely on-chain, ensuring that allegations of cheating can be eliminated.
"We host major prize tournaments and utilize blockchain technology to verify that all tournament participants have legitimately competed,\" Dooney asserted.
He further added that web3 gaming is straightforward, but the ongoing challenges within the cryptocurrency landscape and the debates surrounding NFTs have made many players hesitant.
Dooney added.
Is the “play-to-earn era” over?
The play-to-earn model has unfortunately sullied the reputation of many blockchain-based games, as players often prioritize crypto earnings over gameplay enjoyment. blockchain gaming \"Gamers accustomed to Web2 sometimes fail to see the transformative potential of blockchain for gaming. However, our aim is to create LAW as an effortlessly integrated web3 game. If you wish to enjoy an MMORTS game on your iPhone, Android, Mac, PC, or browser, that’s exactly what we deliver. There’s no need to understand cryptocurrency or strive to earn anything; you can simply dive into your favorite game,\" Dooney explained.
Games have been a vital source of entertainment for millennia for good reason — they provide an escape, a means to bond with others, and an avenue for fun. The rewards and earnings are merely an extra incentive, which could explain why play-to-earn games have seen a decline in player count.
"We don’t adhere to a play-to-earn approach; instead, we offer free-to-own or play-and-own models. Players can enjoy the game without spending or earning money while still having a phenomenal experience. However, we also host tournaments for which players can compete for prizes. It’s all about creating a great game at the heart of it,\" Dooney said.
A growing number of web3 gaming companies are entering the space.
