Krista Kim and Peter Martin share their insights on what lies ahead for the ØRB metaverse and the innovative social experiences it aims to offer.

In Brief

In a discussion with Metaverse Post, Krista Kim and Peter Martin, the co-founders of the ØRB System, elaborated on their vision and future plans for the platform.

On the ØRB System website, users have the opportunity to mint NFT 'passes' for accessing the 360-degree content-streaming platform.

The future is just around the corner, and the digital landscape is thriving with innovative Web3 projects and metaverse platforms. The ØRB System exemplifies how we're developing these extraordinary environments.

Metaverse Post engaged with the co-founders of ØRB, Krista Kim and Peter Martin, to dive deeper into their ambitious project. [0] ØRB represents a platform in the metaverse dedicated to streaming 36Ø content, allowing visual artists and immersive storytellers to showcase their creations in a three-dimensional space.

What is the ØRB System

Currently, most metaverse environments display user creations in 2D format, but the appetite among creators and audiences for more immersive experiences is growing. Therefore, the team decided to create a metaverse content theatre, enabling the exhibition and enjoyment of 3D art.

Beyond featuring an array of 3D art installations, the platform will also host health and wellness sessions, entertainment, educational offerings, and a variety of sports-related content.

Peter's background in live-streaming holograms and concerts is pivotal, as the aim is to elevate the realm of entertainment and artistry to unprecedented heights within the metaverse.

The roadmap for ØRB appears bright, with plans to roll out both direct-to-consumer and business-focused experiences. By the third quarter of 2023, they anticipate launching social experiences that enable groups of artists to host up to ten participants in a virtual shared space. The business solutions will be introduced in the first quarter of the following year, empowering companies to invite fans into their respective metaverse arenas on ØRB.

says Krista Kim.

The goal of ØRB is to hasten the emergence of an open metaverse by collaborating with key industry players, including Neal Stephenson’s blockchain venture, Lamina1— a significant player for creators within the Web3 space. Importantly, ØRB is built upon Lamina1's framework.

Interoperability

Krista and Peter regard interoperability as essential for fostering an open metaverse: creating a new economic model \"In today's landscape, users must juggle different memberships and avatars across various platforms,\" Peter explains. \"Our mission is to create connections between these platforms, where instead of just transporting your avatar, you can carry over all your assets and utilize them wherever you engage. This technology will facilitate the unification of the existing platforms.\"

The development of VR archival content is yet another aspect that ØRB is focusing on. With Peter Martin's expertise in AR and VR, he elaborates on how current hardware, such as virtual reality headsets, is utilized:

"Oculus mainly targets gaming in the domains of storytelling and artistic representation. However, there's currently no venue dedicated to experiencing this type of content. One aspect we're eager to address is the showcasing of remarkable art, which will become even more impactful when we gain access to Apple's forthcoming AR glasses. We believe that XR and AR have the potential to become vital distribution channels for the metaverse.\"

VR

On November 12, ØRB debuted its Genesis NFT collection. These tokens serve as 'passes' for the ØRB platform, designed by 3D artist Alex Dang and represented as spacecraft. They will act as a bridge connecting both existing and future metaverse environments.

Interestingly, the creators envision the platform as an open-source benefit that will see significant use in the years ahead, leading to an unlimited supply of ØRB NFTs. However, it's essential to highlight that only the initial 2,500 NFTs will offer exclusive perks to their holders, including artwork from Krista Kim and guided meditation sessions.

NFT passes

"We perceive our NFTs more as consumer products compared to typical profile picture collections. We operate as a conduit for streaming 360 content within the open metaverse, aiming to establish ourselves akin to an Apple store where patrons come to acquire Apple products,\" Krista Kim explains.

The ØRB NFTs will be available for 0.33 ETH (which is around $385 as of the current write-up) via the ØRB platform.
