In a remarkable partnership, Jay-Z and Jack Dorsey have unveiled 'The Bitcoin Academy,' a unique financial education program offered at no cost to participants.

Jay-Z and Dorsey's funding of The Bitcoin Academy seeks to empower community members with the knowledge to manage their finances better and to conquer the barriers that often prevent a deeper understanding of Bitcoin.

The program specifically targets residents of the Marcy House, a public housing project in Brooklyn where Jay-Z spent his formative years. The Bitcoin Academy offers both online classes and in-person sessions, providing meals for attendees participating in physical classes.

This initiative aims to support individuals facing economic challenges by equipping them with essential financial knowledge. Beyond the personal contributions from Jay-Z and Dorsey, the program was crafted in partnership with the Shawn Carter Foundation, Black Bitcoin Billionaires, and Crypto Blockchain Plug.

According to Dorsey, 'Education is our starting point. This goes beyond just bitcoin; it encompasses long-term planning, fostering local economies, and boosting self-esteem. We’re offering free courses to everyone in Marcy, including children. To facilitate their learning, we’re also supplying necessary devices and internet access for those who require it.' said

Classes will commence on June 22 and conclude on September 7, covering diverse topics such as: What exactly is money? The fundamentals of cryptocurrency? Understanding blockchain technology? And strategies to protect oneself from scams?

Participants will be provided with MiFi devices, smartphones, and data plans to optimize their learning experience. They get to keep these devices once the program is completed. Additionally, younger attendees can join the Crypto Kids Camp held on two Saturdays.

Instructors for the program include notable figures such as Lamar Wilson, founder of Black Bitcoin Billionaires, who has been featured on platforms like The Breakfast Club and Vice News, and Najah J. Roberts, Chief Visionary Officer of the Crypto Blockchain Plug and founder of The Bitcoin Banq.

Jay-Z’s mother, Gloria Carter, also  agrees Dorsey emphasizes that 'everyone should have the ability to make sound financial choices that enable them to support themselves and their families.'
