Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger have unveiled their latest project, Artifact, which aims to deliver a personalized news experience while addressing the issue of misinformation.

The content feed in Artifact will utilize advanced AI technology, functioning in a way reminiscent of popular platforms like TikTok.

The co-founders of Instagram Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger's new creation, Artifact, offers an article-based news feed that prioritizes personalization powered by AI. AI . According to  The Verge Artifact aspires to be 'like TikTok, but for text,' creating an engaging reading environment.

Artifact compiles articles from diverse sources and presents them in a text format, similar to Instagram Reels, fostering a TikTok-like experience but with written content. Currently, it's in a private beta phase, allowing users to sign up via phone for a chance to help test the app before its official launch.

The introduction of Artifact highlights the growing influence of AI on the way users discover and interact with news content across social media. Through Artifact, users can browse a feed filled with curated news from both major outlets like The New York Times and smaller blogs.

After selecting an article, users will be presented with additional content aligned with their reading habits. The app also features updates and discussions from friends you follow, alongside a private messaging function for chatting about current events.

'It’s an especially relevant moment in tech, considering the recent shifts led by Elon Musk at Twitter and Facebook's strategic pivot towards the Metaverse. With the ongoing battle against misinformation, focusing on text-driven content couldn't be more timely.' Artifact aims to filter out misleading content, utilizing machine learning to track user engagement based on how long they read about different subjects, prioritizing quality over mere clickbait. In 2012, the duo sold Instagram to Facebook for nearly $1 billion after launching it in 2010.
