HashKey Capital Has Received Type 1 License from SFC, Enhancing Crypto Accessibility in Hong Kong
In Brief
In a recent announcement, HashKey Capital shared that it has successfully obtained a Type 1 license from the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong, thus enhancing its regulatory framework.

A renowned global venture capital firm dedicated to advancements in blockchain technology, HashKey Capital has successfully secured a Type 1 license from Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), thus enhancing its regulated service offerings.
HashKey Capital already holds a Type 9 license, which permits it to provide asset management solutions to both retail and institutional clients. Moreover, the company has recently been authorized to offer discretionary management services for virtual assets (VA) utilizing the same license. In addition, last year, in May, HashKey Capital obtained a Type 4 license, enabling it to provide both securities and investment advisory services focused on virtual assets.
With the new Type 1 license in hand, HashKey Capital is now positioned to offer brokerage services for both retail and professional investors, along with the ability to market and distribute funds and structured products, some of which involve virtual assets.
With the Newly Granted License, HashKey Capital is Set to Provide Access to Markets, Investment Funds, and Structured Products
HashKey Capital's latest offerings can be categorized into three main areas.
The firm has now launched brokerage services tailored to two distinct client profiles: those from traditional finance (TradFi) looking to tap into crypto exchanges and crypto-native clients searching for brokerage support. Notably, HashKey Capital will not take on the role of custodian for any client assets involved in this arrangement.
HashKey Capital is enhancing its suite of investment funds. In addition to the HashKey FTSE Digital Asset Top 20 Index Fund and its two exchange-traded funds (ETFs), the firm now opens the door for clients to various quantitative strategies. These strategies encompass arbitrage trading, commodity trading advisory (CTA), market-neutral strategies, and approaches based on trending patterns.
Additionally, HashKey Capital has introduced an extensive array of structured products. These include solutions that protect the principal amount, yield enhancement products, binary options, dual-currency offerings, and other intricate investment methodologies.
These new financial products are tailored to meet the diverse objectives of investors, such as capital preservation and risk management, making them suitable for a wide range of investors. Beyond retail and institutional clients, HashKey Capital anticipates that these offerings will resonate with distributors, family offices, and even entities new to the cryptocurrency market, including insurance firms or endowments.
This progression signifies a substantial step in the expansion of HashKey Capital’s operations in Hong Kong. The firm has recently received received approval from the Hong Kong SFC to initiate discretionary account management services tailored for virtual assets (VA) directed at professional investors.
