Halliday attracts $6 million in funding aimed at developing a payment solution specialized for in-game NFTs.

Web3 startup Halliday Halliday successfully completed a $6 million seed round, spearheaded by a prominent investor in cryptocurrency, a16z. Their upcoming platform will allow gamers to acquire NFTs for games and the metaverse using deferred payment, aiming to lower the entry barriers of blockchain gaming and make it accessible for more players.
In addition to a16z, other investors like a_capital, Hashed, Immersion Partners, Sabrina Hahn, and SV Angel have also backed Halliday. The company benefited from the guidance of Web3 specialists, including Stanford professor Dan Boneh.
Play-to-earn As blockchain gaming continues to gain traction, many newcomers are often deterred by high initial costs. Players usually need to buy NFTs to start their experience and often must spend additional funds on upgrades. Halliday provides a platform where players can dive in right away and defer payments for assets, making the entry smoother.
Founded by Akshay Malhotra and Griffin Dunaif last November, Halliday seamlessly integrates with blockchain games and NFT marketplaces, ensuring secure asset ownership and staggered payments for players without sneaky additional fees. Their innovative 'buy now, pay later' model allows players to chip away at their asset costs as they earn in-game.
Halliday is actively forming fresh partnerships and integrations within the gaming ecosystem. Their platform is set to enter a beta phase alongside the blockchain strategy game, League of Kingdoms, with a full launch scheduled for the end of this year.
Halliday aims to build the foundational economic framework for a network of blockchain games and virtual environments, which they refer to as a digital civilization, empowering users with ownership, options, and unrestricted access. wrote on Twitter.
The strategy embraced by Halliday draws parallels to that of similar initiatives, which work to enhance conventional NFT rental frameworks by offering collateral-free options through a rent-to-earn model. Unitbox A16z has published its inaugural 'State of Crypto Report.'
