Hailo Unveils Advanced AI Chips Delivering Superior Image Processing Power
In Brief
Hailo, a financially robust player in the AI chip sector, has announced the launch of its newest family of processors: the Hailo15H, M, and L. These processors are specifically engineered to power smart cameras.
The Tel Aviv-based chipmaker Hailo has announced today revealed its latest SoC family, the Hailo15H, M, and L. Like its predecessor, the Hailo8, these chips have been crafted with the intention of bringing artificial intelligence capabilities directly to the edge, particularly enhancing intelligent camera functions.

"The launch of Hailo15 represents a groundbreaking progression towards making edge AI more accessible and scalable,\" said Orr Danon, Hailo’s CEO. \"Our edge solutions are already being leveraged by a multitude of clients worldwide; they represent mature AI technology complete with a robust software package that delivers high-performance AI within a camera form factor.\"
With speeds ranging from 7 to 20 tera operations per second, the new Hailo lineup outpaces comparably priced alternatives by up to five times. Utilizing the high-end Hailo15H, users can execute YOLOv5 in real-time at a resolution of 1280 × 1280, or process the ResNet50 classification model at an impressive 700 frames per second. For those who don’t need instantaneous processing, this powerful chip can also handle video input at 4k60.
This update provides cameras with advanced sight-based transformers for real-time object detection capabilities. Additionally, it enhances video quality under low-light conditions, stabilizes shaky footage, and generates HDR images.
By removing the necessity for cloud-based analytics in these cameras, video bandwidth is conserved, processing power is optimized, and overall privacy is enhanced by anonymizing data at the edge. This 'Hailo15-powered camera' approach reduces the total cost of ownership for extensive camera deployments by offloading cloud processing. The outcome is an ultra-high-quality, AI-driven video analytics solution that prioritizes safety while respecting privacy and helps organizations operate more efficiently at reduced costs and network complexity.
Hailo is building on the innovative design principles established in its original chips with these new processors. This architecture keeps computational, memory, and control units closely interconnected for optimal efficiency while deactivating unnecessary components of the processor as needed.
