Step 1: Set Up a Compatible Crypto Wallet

To kick things off, choose a crypto wallet compatible with zkSync Era, like MetaMask or Trust Wallet. Double-check that it’s properly configured and secure, with your recovery phrase safely backed up.

For instance, we opted to link the zkSync Era alpha mainnet to our MetaMask. To accomplish this, open your MetaMask, click the network button, and select 'Add network'.

Move Assets to zkSync Mainnet
If you're eligible, ensure to transfer your cryptocurrency assets to the zkSync mainnet.

Step 2 : Move Assets to zkSync Mainnet

For eligible users, transferring your crypto assets to the zkSync mainnet is essential.

Step 3: Bridge Your Funds to zkSync Era Mainnet and zkSync Lite

Here’s an economical method to move your funds to zkSync Era Mainnet:

1. Buy ETH on a centralised exchange
2. Transfer your ETH from the exchange to your MetaMask by using the Arbitrum network (fees are around US$1-2)
3. Take advantage of Orbiter Finance to shift ETH from Arbitrum to zkSync Era or zkSync Lite (with fees generally around $2-3).
   

Step 4: Initiate Your Transactions on zkSync 

Once your assets are transferred, start leveraging zkSync for transactions and chain-related activities. This could include sending tokens, engaging with DeFi applications, or manipulating smart contracts. The more active you are, the more benefits you’ll reap.

Now, every user has access to zkSync Lite (previously known as zkSync 1.0) alongside the zkSync Era Mainnet Alpha. This creates an opportunity for users to be eligible for a zkSync airdrop, even if they missed the initial whitelist. To use zkSync Lite, link your L1 ETH wallet and remember, there’s a one-off account activation fee of 1.279 USDT. From there, interact by moving your balances from L1 to zkSync Lite through ETH or USDT deposits, or withdrawing from zkSync Lite back to L1.
