The new cloud and data center will be strategically located in Bangkok and Chonburi, designed not only to enhance Google Cloud's capabilities but also to inspire innovations in AI, while ensuring support for widely used services like Google Search, Maps, and Google Workspace. The cloud region will feature the essential hardware and software to cater to both public and private sectors, primarily established in Bangkok.

According to Deloitte's analysis, this investment could potentially add about $4 billion to Thailand’s GDP by 2029, along with the expectation of creating around 14,000 jobs each year from 2025 through 2029.

Thailand Collaborates With Google, AWS, and Microsoft for an $8.46 Billion Initiative to Boost Digital Infrastructure.

This announcement is part of a collaborative agreement A partnership was established in November 2023 between the Royal Thai Government and Google, focused on enhancing digital infrastructure and promoting responsible AI innovation in the nation.

In addition to Google, the Royal Thai Government has teamed up with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft to secure a total investment of $8.46 billion from these tech giants. As part of this collaboration, AWS intends to build a data center with a financial commitment of $5 billion over the next fifteen years.

Earlier this year, Microsoft revealed its plans to open its inaugural regional data center in Thailand, with the goal of enhancing its cloud offerings. This new facility is anticipated to broaden the reach of Microsoft’s hyperscale cloud services, allowing users nationwide to fully access Azure alongside a high-quality AI infrastructure.

Microsoft assured that the new data center in Thailand would deliver enterprise-level reliability, performance, and adhere to local data privacy and residency regulations. Furthermore, the company has pledged to provide AI training for 2.5 million people in Southeast Asia by 2025.
