Google's team has pinpointed 18 weaknesses in Samsung chipsets.
In Brief
The implications of these vulnerabilities extend to vehicles as well, where the full extent of the risk is not yet entirely comprehended, but a flaw could lead to horrific outcomes, especially in today’s vehicles, where the onboard computers control many critical functions. There’s actually a way to enhance the efficacy of the software involved.
It’s imperative to act swiftly on all critical vulnerabilities to protect the safety of drivers and passengers. Additionally, companies that manufacture vehicles should make it a priority to secure their onboard computer systems to ensure customer safety.
The affected models include Samsung's S22, M33, M13, M12, A71, A53, A33, A21, A13, A12, and A04 series, as well as Google's Pixel (6 and 7) and various Vivo devices and vehicles using these chipsets. Unfortunately, patching all these vulnerabilities on every single device in a timely manner may prove nearly impossible. Although updates have been dispatched to manufacturers, they won't be deployed immediately, and older models may not receive patches at all. To date, only Pixel devices have received any updates.
As a temporary measure, Samsung recommends disabling Wi-Fi calling and VoLTE while they work on updates.

Android is known for its open ecosystem, and as mentioned earlier, this can hinder rapid responses to vulnerabilities. Due to hardware design, all devices can be susceptible, which means that even with OS alterations, vulnerabilities remain a concern. The nature of Android, unfortunately, makes it more prone to such threats!
