Goblintown NFTs: Are they a mere jest, a scam, or something entirely different?

Goblintown

The Goblintown.wtf Contrary to what one might expect from a typical NFT collection, Goblintown's team revealed that their project lacks utility, community interaction through Discord, and any future planning. All 10,000 NFTs were available for free minting, and the creators had no expectations for the project's trajectory. Surprisingly, the trading activity surged past 10,000 ETH within just a few days.

The NFT marketplace can be quite unpredictable, featuring everything from deceitful exits and complete frauds to esteemed initiatives and heavily promoted projects that suddenly rake in millions. Among the numerous bizarre offerings in this space, Goblintown stands out: its official website is peppered with colorful language, the goblins depicted are certainly no beauty queens, and the project’s founders hosted a Twitter space filled with nothing but 'goblin sounds,' flatulence noises, and incoherent utterances, yet an astonishing audience of over 56,000 tuned in. The collection’s OpenSea description is just as nonsensical, boasting amusing phrases like 'AAAAAAAUUUUUGGGHHHHH,' 'yoo sniksnakr DEJEN RATS,' and other playful gibberish. Moreover, this project operates under the CC0 (Creative Commons Zero) license, removing any claims of copyright over the entire NFT collection.

Currently, the lowest price for Goblins sits at 1.69 ETH, with the whole collection amassing an impressive trading volume of around 10,321 ETH, equating to over $18 million. It's quite astonishing to realize that a project lacking objectives or plans can gather such a substantial fund, yet here we are witnessing the phenomenon.

Goblintown collection on OpenSea

At present, the Goblintown collection is ranked second on OpenSea for sales within the past 24 hours. However, it's worth noting that sales have dropped by 65.99% today, which might indicate waning interest in this perplexing endeavor.
