What is Digital Signature?

A DSC includes essential details such as the holder’s name, an expiration date, a unique serial number, and a copy of their public key, all bundled with the digital signature from the certifying authority, which validates the certificate's authenticity.
Issued by reliable certificate authorities, a DSC is secured with a digital signature from a root certificate to ensure its validity. Various operating systems and web browsers maintain directories of trusted CA root certificates to simplify the verification of these digital certificates. Interestingly, digital certificates can also be self-signed in cases where a public key infrastructure (PKI) is internally set up.
A Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) consists of a framework of public encryption keys that facilitates secure data communication across the internet while also enabling parties to confirm one another's identities. PKI is vital for safeguarding any sensitive information exchanged online.
