With the upcoming release of an NFT platform for football-related digital collectibles, FIFA is stepping into innovative territory.

FIFA has announced FIFA is gearing up for the launch of its 'FIFA+ Collect' NFT platform, which aims to showcase a range of digital collectibles from previous World Cup tournaments, anticipating a release at the end of September.

The International Federation of Association Football has teamed up with the Algorand blockchain to bring this platform to life. It’s interesting to note that Algorand officially partnered with FIFA earlier this May and has signed on as a technical collaborator and sponsor for the 2022 World Cup.

According to W. Sean Ford, the acting CEO of Algorand, 'FIFA's new platform represents a major leap forward, showcasing their partnership with Algorand on a decentralized and scalable blockchain. Their commitment to integrating with Web3 reflects an innovative approach and a genuine desire to engage football enthusiasts globally.'

FIFA+ Collect is set to highlight iconic moments from the upcoming 2022 World Cup in Qatar this November, alongside NFTs from the Women’s World Cup. Furthermore, FIFA has indicated plans for exclusive collections to be added in the near future, enhancing the platform's offerings.

This platform will be accessible in English, Spanish, and French, making it user-friendly for a diverse range of football fans.

Steven Kokinos, the CEO of Algorand and co-founder of Hivemind, reported that Algorand has acquired the music platform Napster, though the financial details of the transaction remain undisclosed.
