Edubuk Collaborates with Concordium to Combat Fraudulent Credentials Utilizing Blockchain Technology

In Brief

In a move to strengthen the integrity of academic qualifications, Edubuk has joined forces with Concordium to implement a blockchain-based eSeal solution, enhancing security and credibility.

Edubook, an AI-driven educational technology firm from India, has announced its alliance with the Layer 1 platform, Concordium, aimed at improving the security and legitimacy of academic records. blockchain This collaborative effort seeks to address the challenges posed by counterfeit CVs and unreliable diploma validation by utilizing Concordium's eSeal technology to establish an immutable record of credentials, reducing fraud risks significantly. This initiative promises to be particularly advantageous for Indian students aspiring to study abroad in regions like the United States, Canada, or Europe.

"The decentralized structure significantly boosts security by removing single point failures. The transparent verification provided by blockchain ensures that there are audit trails that can be traced. Our international solution streamlines the verification process across borders,\" said Apoorva Bajaj, Edubuk's CTO, in an interview with Metaverse Post. certificate credentials on-chain In response to the widespread issue of fraudulent CVs and resumes, Edubuk launched the Certified Emerging Technologies Analyst (CETA) program last July, which has already educated over 800 students in cutting-edge technologies. Their next goal is to provide security and verification for digital certifications through the capabilities offered by Concordium.

"Validating educational transcripts and certificates often becomes a lengthy, expensive ordeal for both students and institutions. For instance, it can take between three to four weeks to verify transcripts, costing students well over $500 per application when applying to study in the U.S.,\" noted Bajaj from Edubuk.

"This innovative process can drastically reduce both the time and financial burden associated with verifying candidates and their qualifications, whether it's for academic admissions or employment opportunities. We anticipate it could make the validation process up to 1,000 times faster and significantly cheaper, all while leveraging blockchain technology,\" he added. blockchain technology .

Understanding How Edubuk’s Credential Verification System Operates

The decentralized application (dApp) is built on two main components: the eSeal and the verification layer.

"The eSeal Layer is dedicated to registering certificates and transcripts on the blockchain. During the eSealing process, it creates a unique file hash and timestamp, capturing essential details about the recipient and issuer,\" shared Holger Fischer, Ecosystem Manager at Concordium, during his discussion with Metaverse Post.

The developed decentralized application The timestamp indicates when the certificate was recorded on the blockchain (in UTC), along with the identity of the individual who registered it (the witness's wallet address).

"Furthermore, the Verification Layer allows university staff or HR professionals to access the certificate data stored on the blockchain. If the six essential fields match the details produced during the eSealing step, the application will show a 'Certificate Verified' confirmation with a green check mark,\" Fischer from Concordium added.

It includes six fields:

  • Who the certificate was issued to
  • Who is it issued by
  • What is the certificate about
  • Unique file hash of the certificate
  • Any modifications or attempted verifications of certificates that aren’t stored on the blockchain will trigger error messages in red, ensuring a robust system for maintaining credential integrity.
  • "Our company is capitalizing on these features to ensure that students completing the CETA program, and in the near future, those from universities worldwide can verify that the issuer of their diploma has officially logged its fingerprint on the blockchain, confirming its authenticity and integrity against tampering,\" explained Bajaj from Edubuk.

Moreover, the dApp is set to evolve into an all-encompassing, scalable version of a CV and resume, securely stored on the blockchain. Each line in a candidate's CV will be clickable, linking directly to publicly available information hosted on the Concordium Blockchain.

As their collaboration evolves, both Edubuk and Concordium anticipate rolling out additional innovations and expansions, adapting to the ever-changing demands of the market.
