The conclusion of EDCON2023 was marked by a vibrant celebration of the Montenegrin and broader Ethereum communities.
The EDCON (Ethereum Community Development Conference) wrapped up in style this year, with more than 3,000 participants from 68 countries leaving their mark over five engaging days in Podgorica, Montenegro.
During the conference, a myriad of Ethereum developers, researchers, and leaders took to the stage to inspire attendees with their forward-thinking perspectives on Ethereum's future, the importance of zero-knowledge (ZK) technology, the growing layer 2 (L2) ecosystem, public goods, and other critical advancements.

Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum's Co-Founder, laid out a vision for Ethereum centered around pressing issues. He discussed how L2 solutions are addressing scalability, even as interoperability poses a challenge. The security of user accounts has become a priority, which multi-sig and social recovery systems can help resolve. Privacy also emerged as a significant concern, with Buterin advocating for stealth addresses and ZK social recovery. To sum it up? ZK REAM: 'Zero Knowledge Rules Everything Around Me'!
Notable figures like Tim Beiko, Skylar Weaver, Barry Whitehat, Piper Merriam, Andy Guzman, and Leo Lara from the Ethereum Foundation; Cy Li, Director of UETH; Eli Ben-Sasson, Co-Founder of StarkWare; Scott Moore, Co-Founder of Gitcoin; and Balaji Srinivasan, author of 'The Network State,' shared their invaluable insights at the event.
ETH Montenegro, represented by volunteers from the UETH ambassador group (The University of Ethereum), showcased their contributions on stage. Looking ahead, EDCON 2024 is set to take place in Japan, aiming to spark enthusiasm and inspiration in the local community similar to the remarkable gathering in Montenegro.
