COTI Joins Forces with Civic to Boost User Control Over Digital Identities

In Brief

COTI has allied with Civic to bolster privacy and data security for Civic users by utilizing the confidentiality features of COTI V2.

Confidentiality solutions implemented on the Ethereum blockchain, COTI partnered with the provider of Web3 identity management tools Civic to bolster data protection and privacy for Civic users. This partnership allows Civic to implement COTI V2’s confidentiality features, enhancing their Dynamic Decentralized Identity (DID) offerings.

COTI presents a compliant solution for guaranteeing data safety on the public blockchain, taking advantage of Ethereum’s robust security while employing the cryptographic method known as Garbled Circuits.

Thanks to the COTI V2 confidentiality features, data can be verified and processed without ever being decrypted throughout the workflow.

Employing Garbled Circuits, COTI V2 amplifies privacy, facilitating the operation of DID. This enables advanced functionalities like secure data sharing and complex computations.

COTI V2’s DIDs are linked with Civic’s Civic Pass, a verified credential that functions as a non-transferable token saved within the user's digital wallet. Civic Pass can also be utilized to meet regulatory standards like Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) protocols.

Additionally, Civic will integrate with COTI V2 through all phases of its development—including devnet, testnet, and mainnet—acting as a design partner.

Civic and COTI are Enhancing Data Privacy for Web3 Users Engaging with Decentralized Applications (dApps)

Civic enables users to securely manage their identities across various blockchain platforms through a reusable identity representation on-chain. Civic Pass serves as the flagship product, designed to assist businesses in providing secure access to their blockchain assets.

“We are thrilled to integrate COTI V2’s confidentiality features into Civic’s platform,” stated Shahaf Bar-Geffen, CEO of COTI. “Civic stands out as a leader in Web3 identity management tools, and COTI intends to continue collaborating with leading industry players. We are eager to work with Civic's talented team to fully realize the capabilities of Dynamic DID,” he added.

Both COTI Civic and COTI are committed to ensuring that users experience data privacy while interacting with decentralized applications (dApps) and exploring Web3 use cases. The ability to manage an upgraded version of users' DIDs through COTI V2 will enable dApps to leverage Civic’s digital identities, extracting useful insights without risking sensitive information.
