In a historic move, Conflux and China Telecom introduce their pioneering on-chain Blockchain SIM card.

Toronto, Canada, May 16th, 2023, Chainwire

Conflux Network , at the renowned Xuhui District West Bank AI Center in Shanghai, China Telecom showcased the Blockchain SIM (BSIM) card that they developed in collaboration with Conflux, a leader in regulatory compliance.

The BSIM card represents a world-first: it serves as a mobile identification tool that operates using blockchain technology. Visually, it resembles standard SIM cards but features a storage capacity that is 10 to 20 times superior and possesses computational power many times greater than that of conventional SIMs.

Beyond its standard communication capabilities, this innovative BSIM card can generate and securely store both public and private user keys directly within the card. By ensuring that the private key remains within the card, it significantly lowers the risk of malware attacks on mobile devices. Additionally, the BSIM card offers encrypted storage options, key recovery functionalities, and can seamlessly integrate classic U-shield features. Its hardware security features ensure that users’ private keys remain secure. It stands as the safest and most user-friendly gateway to Web3 currently in existence.

During the unveiling event, Dr. Wu Ming, the Co-Founder and CTO of Conflux Network, demonstrated the first practical application of the BSIM card by successfully transferring a commemorative NFT representing the partnership between China Telecom and Conflux with just a single tap on the app. This event marked the inaugural public usage of the BSIM card, with the NFT moving from the BSIM account of the Shanghai Conflux Research Institute to that of China Telecom.

Dr. Wu Ming explained, \"This marks a turning point in mobile communication. Now, users can attain a secure digital identity through their mobile devices, providing them effortless access to Web3 and the metaverse without technical hurdles. Blockchain technology has advanced significantly, shedding its image as an arduous and exclusive subject, and is now a viable infrastructure for various applications within the global economy and our everyday lives.\"

Li Anmin, who serves as the Deputy Dean at China Telecom Group's Research Institute, shared, \"Our partnership with Conflux Network is geared toward creating communication solutions that genuinely cater to user demands. The BSIM card is merely the beginning of our journey as we explore a wide array of applications and additional products that merge blockchain technology with today’s communication advancements.\"

The BSIM card will undergo testing in Hong Kong before expanding its rollout to the mainland and international markets.
